Boats

There are two main locations for any and all things boats, those being: Deckard's Boat Shop, located at Port Jackson, and Anne's Boat Shop, located at Smuggler's Bay in the Timeless Tides. Both sell a different set of boats, although already purchased boats can be equipped, upgraded, and customized at either location. In addition to these two static locations, the Wandering Merchant has the ability to periodically sell unique boats for a currency known as Shards. The Wandering Merchant arrives every week on Friday until Sunday at Port Jackson and Smuggler's Bay.

Docks at Eruption Island

The only method of transportation (apart from the Cybernetics Glider backpack and Poperson's Balloon is boats. There are a number of different boats available for purchase in Deckard's Boat Shop, Anne's Boat Shop, and sometimes the Wandering Merchant. Once a boat is purchased, an upgrade menu will appear in the same GUI where purchased. Boats have health and can only be damaged by Sea Creatures or Bosses such as Moby Wood and the Kronkasaurus. When a boat is attacked, it will lose health based on the amount of damage the creature can do. To repair a boat, stand or be seated on it and a GUI will appear in the bottom left, or go to the nearest docks and respawn the boat. It costs 10 to repair it to full health, regardless of how much damage has been taken. Note: anyone on the boat can restore a boat's health.

Some boats also have special abilities or boosts, also known as Specialties!. These boosts to a player will be active as long as they are standing on top of the boat. Note: this means they do not need to be specifically "Standing" or "Sitting" with the action prompt to get the boosts, only to be on the boat itself to get the bonuses.

The Boat Anchor is a purchasable gamepass introduced in Update 3.5.0 on February 23, 2024. The Anchor gamepass can be purchased for 199 and essentially stops the boat from moving in any direction except left, right and vertically. When toggled, a visible anchor and chain is lowered into the ocean and immediately prevents the boat from moving and rotating with waves. It also prevents any players from moving and ramming the boat with the anchor enabled. Once the boat owner moves forward or backwards the anchor retracts automatically.

Spawning

To spawn a boat, walk along the edge of a dock until an interaction GUI appears, then press 'E' to spawn the boat. If a boat is in the way a notification of this will appear. A player MUST own a boat in order to spawn one.

Upgrading

Boat Upgrade Menu. (For House Boat)

After purchasing a boat, a menu will appear in the shop which shows Health, Speed, and Special Ability (only on boats that have one). When upgrading, the prices will gradually increase the more upgrades are applied. The price to upgrade is dependent on the type of boat being upgraded. All boat special abilities are only upgradable through Gems, whereas Health and Speed are only upgradable through Coins. Speed is often considered the best upgrade to go for first as it helps outrun Sea Creatures. Health is not very useful for people who plan to hunt, but for those who fish where sea creatures lurk. After upgrading a boat, players have to respawn it to apply changes.
